The creature, which is being kept in a cage by Ratcliffe residents Jackie Stock and her husband, Bubba, has a hairless back, long claws and a ferocious growl.
"I hunted coons for 20 years with dogs and I ain't ever seen anything that looks like that right there," one resident says.
The Stocks hope to confirm if it indeed a chupacabra, which means "goat sucker" in Spanish.
However, wildlife experts already are dismissing the claims, geobeats says. One expert says it resembles a small dog, fox or coyote.
In a similar case, photos of a creature earlier this year led residents to believe there was a chupacabra in the Houston area.
