Star Wars: Battlefront III rumored to be in development

Since the blockbuster hit Star Wars: Battlefront II, fans have been craving a Battlefront III to further fight through their favorite battles from the Star Wars films. But with no announcements and the years since Battlefront II, Star Wars fans have given up on anticipating another game, however new hints from developers suggest that a new Battlefront could be in our future.

The rumors among fans of the Star Wars universe spread like wildfire about the development Star Wars: Battlefront III since the release of the second game, but no official announcement was ever made. However over the past couple of years, rumors from official sources have resurfaced suggesting that the game is indeed in development and this installment of the series will be huge.

Information received by Kotaku from former LucasArts employees stated back 2006 says, yes Battlefront III is in fact in the creation process (at that time). The game was under development by Free Radical Design for current gen systems and the game is said to be massive. One of the new features rumored is the ability for players to enter space crafts during ground battles and fly through atmosphere to then engage in space battles. Much like Battlefront II players would be able to dock enemy ships and sabotage them, but unlike Battlefront II, players won't be limited in exploration of the enemy vessels.

Footage of the game-play for Battlefront III was leaked to IGN from a former Free Radical Design developer, but LucasArts demanded its removal almost as fast as it went up. Then fans lost hope after the PSP release of Star Wars Battlefront: Elite Squadron, making fans fear that Rebellion Developments bought out the title and turned it into a hand held rip of Star Wars: Battlefront II, but that might not be the case.

Official copyrights and licenses filed by Free Radical Design has staked a claim the title Star Wars: Battlefront III, and GameSpy and Steam have even set up lobbies for the title. But it is unsure on whether Free Radical will continue the development or if it was sold to Spark Unlimited as their next project. Either way there has been no official word on if the game is actually in development, but fans sure are asking for it.

Silent Hill: Book of Memories reinvents survival horror

Silent Hill: Book of Memories is an upcoming multiplayer survival horror game. The new installment to the Silent Hill series and it's taking a unique approach to premise and storyline.

Book of Memories begins with the player receiving a mysterious book (The Book of Memories), but the book isn't just any book, it's the story of your (the player's) life. The book is detailed with everything you have done, choices, people you've met, conflicts, everything that has ever happened to you. But then you discover the ability to alter your past by changing what is written.

This leads to the player being pulled into other-worlds to face nightmares hidden in their past. Players will have to navigate through dark hellish environments and face creatures from the world of Silent Hill. The character will solve puzzles, encounter enemies and bosses, obtain special items and collect different weapons to help unlock the mystery of your past.

The game will be a top view action style survival horror, which is focused more on multiplayer co-operative game-play. Fans will have run ins with past characters and creatures from past Silent Hill games such as, nurses, demon children and Pyramid Head.

Like other titles in the series, players must ration their ammo and health wisely to survive the terror. You will also be able to customize your character and choose your own paths. No word yet on whether there are different ending or not like in previous installments, but players will have some control over storyline progression.

Fans online are already flooding forums discussing the upcoming title, and so far fans aren't very pleased the announcement. Some have started calling the game Silent Hill: Farmville, and stating that the game will be as much of a disappointment as Shattered Memories. But developers claim fans will be pleased and will enjoy this new way of exploring the town of Silent Hill. Fan's however are still skeptical and are asking, "What's next, Silent Hill Racing?"

Silent Hill: Book of Memories will be exclusively for the PlayStation Vita, and due out on retail sometime in 2012. Time to rediscover the nightmares of Silent Hill.

Assassin's Creed III, making American history

Now that Ezio's adventure is over, Ubisoft plans to move on with their epic story Assassin's Creed by bringing fans to the American Revolution.

Assassin's Creed III features a new setting during one of the most important times in US history. The game is set mainly in the early years of the United States during our American Revolution. The game will have a new protagonist known as Connor (aka Ratohnhaké), who fights for his own reasons to achieve a more personal goal. But Connor is not without honor, his quest and independence is a symbol of freedom against it's oppressors.

Not much is known about the game as of yet, but developers are saying it will the largest and most diverse installment of the series. Much like other titles, players will be able to navigate around a large open world map that is fully equipped with shops, banks, tunnels, secrets, mini games and side missions. The developing team has spent more time offering more diverse and interactive mini-games and side missions to give players a less repetitive experience when roaming outside of story line missions.

Conner will have a larger array of abilities compared to his predecessors Altaïr and Ezio Auditore, he will have new combo moves, and the ability to preform more offensive/defensive maneuvers. Conner will also have a larger variety of finishing moves that will scare off some of his other foes. Some rumors circling around forums suggest that Conner will be able to climb trees and stalk from the tree tops, teasers for the game suggest that this is true, however there has been no official word.

Assassin's Creed III is the fifth installment to the series, and has been in development since the release of Assassin's Creed II. The game is being developed by a senior development team at Ubisoft and will also be published by Ubisoft. Assassin's Creed III will be a sandbox action-adventure game for Playstation 3, Xbox 360, Wii U and PC. It's due to hit retail in October, and there has been no mention of multiplayer modes or beta testing as of yet.

Prepare to unleash your inner Assassin and sharpen your blades yet again this fall.
